BANKED RESETS
How banked Codex resets work
Saved resets, eligibility and the difference from an automatic quota refresh.
What is a banked reset?
A saved, one-time Codex reset you apply yourself. It is different from an automatic global reset and from purchased credits.
Latest official banked reset updates
On 7 October 2026 at 19:19 UTC, Tibo announced a banked reset being loaded into paid accounts. A linked update on 8 October at 03:44 UTC confirmed delivery across accounts. These are announcement and completion updates about a saved grant, not two new global resets. Your Usage page remains the source for your own balance and expiration.
September 2026 offers
OpenAI lists September 3 and 4 offers for eligible Plus, Pro and Business accounts. Account creation cutoffs and delivery conditions vary. An announcement is not proof that your account received one.
Find and use it
- Open Codex Settings → Usage in the correct account or workspace.
- Select an available reset and review its expiration.
- Confirm only when you want to use it, then check the updated usage windows.
A full banked reset refreshes the eligible 5-hour and weekly windows and moves your weekly reset schedule. Do not assume the old weekly reset day still applies; check the updated time in Usage. Official explanation.
Does a new global reset add a banked reset?
No. A global reset refreshes eligible limits directly. It does not by itself create a saved reset. The October 7 and 11 global completions are separate from the October 7–8 banked grant updates above. See the dated reset history and check your account for any saved offer.
If it is missing
